North Bay City Council is honoring former Mayor Jack Burrows.

The former CP Rail station which now houses the Discovery North Bay Museum and the area around it will be known as the Jack Burrows Civic Plaza.

Jack’s widow Elaine says it’s a great location to honor her late husband because he believed in doing something substantive for the rail lands because it would benefit North Bay.

“He was like a dog with a bone. He thought it was good for the city and for the people of North Bay and he was going to see it through,” he says.

Councillor Chris Mayne says a dedication ceremony will be held at a date to be determined.

He says Burrows is remembered fondly by many for his style and his contributions to North Bay.

“He was a terrific spokesperson for the city. He was a gentleman mayor and represented a different style of politics than today,” he says.
