Meantime, on Sunday, the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority tweeted that crews were installing logs in a backflood control dam to protect upstream properties from rising Lake Nipissing levels.

The Flood Warning is in effect until Thursday.

Muskoka Lakes has joined Huntsville, Minden Hills and Bracebridge in declaring states of emergency because of flooding in cottage country.

Thousands of people across Quebec, Ontario, and New Brunswick are also facing several more days of spring flooding.

The most dire situation is in a suburb west of Montreal that was inundated Saturday night after a lake burst through a natural dike, forcing thousands to evacuate.
