Canadore’s men’s basketball team has a new head coach.

Rami Arabi has been coaching basketball at the post-secondary level for five years, most recently at the University of Prince Edward Island in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

The college says he has experience coaching and recruiting for many successful teams, including Ryerson, Seneca and Westview Centennial Secondary School.

He has also assisted with large scale events for the Canada Basketball Junior Academy and Hoop Group.

Known as a strong leader with an exceptional work ethic, Arabi reinforces the values of balancing academic, family, social and athletic priorities and has built teams up to win national championships.

“Coach Arabi is renowned for his ability to spot talent, cultivate potential and generate campus and community support,” said Shawna Nielsen, director of student experience, success and athletics. “We are very pleased to be welcoming him to our Canadore Panther family.”

Arabi has been affiliated with various athletic sporting bodies, including U Sports, Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, Ontario Colleges Athletic Association, Amateur Athletic Union and Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations.

He will assume his coaching responsibilities at Canadore immediately.
