The Special Investigations Unit has determined there are no reasonable grounds to lay criminal charges against any North Bay Police officer in relation to a man’s arrest.

“After reviewing evidence, including video recordings from inside the police station, the SIU has determined there are no reasonable grounds to believe rib fractures were caused by police. In fact the initial caller to 911 suggested the person believed the man had a broken rib. ”

The SIU in its report says on May 24th of last year police were called to a local agency.

A 43 year old male was arrested and taken to the police station.

While there he was put in a jail cell and the following morning after being transported to hospital he complained about rib pain.
