Significant rainfall is on the way with Environment Canada issuing a rainfall warning for the North Bay area.

The agency says 30 to 50 mm of rain is possible tonight through tomorrow, before it tapers to scattered showers on Friday.

The heaviest rainfall is expected during the day tomorrow.

Officials say this isn’t going to help the flooding situation in the area.

Environment Canada says the ground, already near saturation, has little ability to absorb further rainfall.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
