The flood warning has been extended by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry until next Friday.

Emergencies have been declared in Mattawa and West Nipissing.
Nipissing First Nation is experiencing severe flooding in Jocko Point, and crews are working to sandbag dwellings in the nearby community of Beaucage to prevent similar damages.

At least 150 homes and cottages in Jocko Point are affected by flooding caused by heavy rain, strong winds and extreme wave action.

Water surges have receded in Jocko Point, however winds have shifted southwest.

This has the potential to create similar surges and risks for flooding damage in Beaucage.

Nipissing First Nation has not declared a state of emergency, nor have they issued any evacuation orders.

NFN says they will only issue evacuation orders if water breaches Jocko Point Road and it becomes unpassable.

In West Nipissing, the weather forecast indicates lessened precipitation and reduced wind speeds for the weekend.

However, water levels are expected to continue to rise by 2-3 cm per day for the next few days.

The municipality asks that residents remain vigilant and cautious around waterways.

In Mattawa, an evacuation centre is set up at the Mike Rodden Arena.

It’s open 24 hours a day.

Several streets remain closed.
Town Officials continue to advise that property owners in low lying areas adjacent to the Mattawa and Ottawa Rivers consider and be prepared for possible evacuation of their residences due to increasing water levels.
