School buses are running again in Mattawa, but there are some special instructions with the flooding that’s impacting the area.

Details are available on the school transportation website.

Yesterday, the Conservation Authority reported snowmelt, rain and runoff in the northern watersheds continue to add water to the upper Ottawa River, impacting Mattawa and the Mattawa River, and in Lake Nipissing.

The lake is expected to continue to rise by about one cm a day for the next several days.

Levels near Mattawa have stabilized but the area remains vulnerable due to higher amounts in upstream reservoirs.

Nipissing First Nation’s big concern is ensuring access to Jocko Point Road but Beaucage could become a major issue as well if the winds shift.

Boat ramps in West Nipissing are closed with officials all over the region monitoring flood conditions and water levels.
