Over a million dollars is flowing from Ottawa to Innovation Initiatives Ontario North.

MP Anthony Rota announced nearly 590-thousand dollars from FedNor.

He says the money will support a project that will help about 60 businesses bring 60 new products to market over the next two years.

“It allows them to enhance their production and make sure everything is done right. And make sure the product is ready for commercial rollout,” he says.

Rota says this initiative will create or maintain 100 middle-class jobs in the region.

As well, nearly 450-thousand dollars is also going to phase three of an entrepreneurship development program.

Executive Director of Innovative Initiatives Ontario North Rob Deline says they’re all about filling local economic needs and job creation.

“Are our clients producing jobs? Are they new jobs, sustainable jobs and high quality jobs,” Deline says.

Since 2015, 51 businesses have received direct support, helping to create 87 jobs and 12 new business start-ups.
