This year I have committed to having #fiftytwocoffees with fellow young professionals in our community. Once a week I have been randomly paired with someone to meet, learn, and make a new connection! The idea is to bring the young business community together and grow a stronger North Bay!

This week, I got to chat with Kennedy Horton, she’s the Youth and Mentorship Coordinator at The Business Centre.

It’s her job to help young entrepreneurs get the support they need to help grow their business.

She is also a Fitness Trainer at Zumba Fitness and they are doing something really fun and different this year. Zumba on the beach!

Starting July 2nd until August 27th they will offer FREE Zumba classes at Centennial Park on the Callander Waterfront at 7pm every Tuesday, and every Wednesday, starting on July 3rd, that class will happen in North Bay at the Elks Lodge Family Park on Highway 17 East. That class is $10 to drop in or 10 classes for $80.

Kennedy grew up in North Bay before doing her post-secondary in Barrie and then returning to the Gateway City to start her career at The Business Centre.

We talked about the challenges and obstacles young people face when starting their own company and the advantages and disadvantages to doing that in northern Ontario. We also had a great chat about, among other things, Disney World, as Kennedy just came back from a recent vacation.

It was great to meet Kennedy and chat with her!

Thirteen cups down, 39 more to go!

Follow me and other young professionals in our journey over the course of the year by following the #fiftytwocoffees tag on social media platforms.
