A slower start to summer is expected locally.

That’s what Weather Network Meteorologist Kelly Sonnenburg is telling BayToday, with June likely to include some below-seasonal temperatures.

She also says a ‘changeable’ weather pattern is expected this summer.

“We’re probably going to be seeing fluctuating conditions, above-seasonal, below-seasonal, everything in-between and that’s what we can expect for North Bay,” she says.

But, what about precipitation?

“We could be dealing with more days that have a risk for thunderstorms this summer season and that’s something we’ll have to watch out for, so we have put North Bay just on the edge of that above-normal precipitation,” Sonnenburg tells BayToday.

She points out thunderstorms can skew the numbers with greater precipitation in some areas.

One bright spot is that summer-like conditions will likely continue into September.
