Plenty of local sports on the go this weekend

Several Nipissing University teams are in action this weekend, including hockey, lacrosse, cross-country and soccer.

Meantime, there’s junior and senior NDA football today (Friday)

And North Bay Selects Soccer Club tryouts on Saturday.

In pre-season OUA men’s hockey, Nipissing is on the road tonight (Friday) playing the University of Western.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the cross-country team is at Western while both Lakers soccer teams are in Sudbury to play Laurentian.

Meantime, here in North Bay, the men’s volleyball team plays the Nipissing Alumni. On Sunday, the Lakers Lacrosse team entertains Brock.

In NDA junior boys football today (Friday), St Joseph-Scollard Hall entertains Algonquin at 1 pm in the first game at the refurbished Cundari Field.

Elsewhere, Widdifield entertains Northern at 4 pm.

On Thursday, West Ferris outscored Franco-Cite 54-28.

Meantime, in senior boys football tonight St Joseph-Scollard Hall is home to West Ferris at 7 pm while Widdifield plays Algonquin at the Omischl Complex, also at 7pm.

And in NDA senior girls basketball, Algonquin scored a 41-16 win over Chippewa on Thursday.

More tryouts are being held this weekend for the North Bay Selects Soccer Club‘s 2016 teams.

All players between the ages of 11 and 18 next year who want to play competitive soccer are welcome.
