A local artist is involved in an event coming up in Sudbury in mid-August.

The fifth-anniversary edition of Sudbury’s ‘Up Here’ urban art and music festival will see the creation of four new large-scale murals by two international artists and two from Northern Ontarian.

One is Callander-based artist Laura Peturson.

Officials say her work is work is narrative in nature and draws upon archetypes from children’s literature.

They say her work captures an experience of childhood as it relates to place: place as geography, place within a family structure, and the interiority that forms one’s sense of identity.

The festival runs August 16th to the 18th in Downtown Sudbury.
