66 teams took part in the Mattawa River Canoe Race on Saturday.

The fastest overall time was put in by Michelle Laprade and Ryan Stepka from Gatineau, Quebec.

Their time was 6:09:43.

As well, Bonnie Pankiw from Quebec and Ottawa’s Ellen Padzdior broke the record in the C2 Stock Women’s class at 7:47:37.

The previous marks was over 9 hours.

And three other teams participated in the 13 km junior and family races.

Recreational winners included Carol Zimbalatti and Mark Swain from Corbeil, Jenny Galt and Buck Miller from Mattawa, Ron Zimbalatti from Ottawa and Sarah Park from Corbeil and Monique Cormier and Katherine Zappala from North Bay.
