The province recently announced the proposal to revise moose management in the province, based on the recommendations of the Big Game Management Advisory Committee.

That committee has provided a report and they’re looking for public comment from moose hunters.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the system is inconsistent in recent years.

He cites an example in Trout Creek.

“There used to be 56 moose tags, then it went to twelve, then to six and then to one. We’re trying to take action on those concerns of how the moose tag quotas were developed and how we can ensure sustainability for future hunters,” he says.

He says the report was compiled through provincial hearings and they heard from hunters about the current situation regarding moose tags.

“They’re very concerned as to how the tags and quotas were developed. We want the hunters to get on line,  give us the feedback so we can improve things and make the system fairer,” he says.

Fedeli says the government is accepting public comment until September 26th.
