North Bay Police have sworn in two new officers.

At a ceremony on Friday morning Constables Erin Bedard and Daniel Pinheiro officially become officers.

Bedard is familiar with North Bay Police as she’s been part of the civilian staff for 14 years but has always wanted to be a police officer.

“I’ve come to understand what it takes to help people, assist victims and serve the community. That’s the most important thing in policing,” Bedard says.

Both officers are from North Bay.

Pineiro was born here, moved to Portugal and served there to begin in policing career but always wanted to return home.

Pinheiro says getting out on patrol is a great way to start his North Bay policing career.

“It’s a great chance to meet members of the community. I want to do that and later branch out to other areas of the police service,” Pinheiro says.

Deputy Chief Michael Daze says the community benefits because they have two new officers with plenty of experience as police and in serving the communities in which they live.
