Nipissing University is getting ready for Homecoming and there’s going to be fireworks in Thomson Park as a part of the festivities.
The city is sponsoring fireworks on Saturday, October 5th after the Nipissing women’s hockey team plays Ryerson at Memorial Gardens.
“We’re very pleased to be partnering with Nipissing University by supporting an event that will bring the community together with alumni, students, staff and faculty,” said Mayor Al McDonald. “Nipissing University is a part of the lifeblood of our community and our relationship is a source of pride. We encourage everyone to come out to enjoy the hockey game and attend the fireworks display afterwards at Thomson Park.”
Homecoming events start the day before, on Friday, October 4th, with students checking out downtown businesses, the Nipissing University Alumni Awards at the Grande Event Centre and a wrap-up alumni event at the Raven & Republic.
“We are grateful to have such dedicated community members in the City of North Bay who support the university and its students,” said Nipissing University President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mike DeGagné. “Our students, employees, and alumni are an integral part of the community and the whole population benefits from our partnership.”
