A unique fundraiser for the North Bay Food Bank goes tonight.

A Lip Sync Battle is taking place at the Davedi Club with a buffet dinner, DJ and dance.

Tickets are $50 and are available at the Food Bank.

Tonight’s event starts at 7:30 pm.

It’s called ‘Music For Jordan’ and North Bay’s Cory Marks and several other local musicians are performing at the Summit tonight in North Bay.

The event is raising funds for Jordan Gardiner, a local paramedic who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer.

On top of the live, local music, there’s food, drinks and an auction.

Tickets are $30 at the door.

Four people are being honoured with Nipissing University Alumni Awards tonight.

The event is part of homecoming weekend, with awards given to alumni who represent an inspiring account of positive social, cultural, and economic change in the world.

This year’s awards are being presented to:
– Dr James Jamieson Influential Alumni Award: Julio Viskovich
– Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award: Alicia Gal
– Rising Star Alumni Award: Alysha Young
– Honorary Alumni Award: Gordon H. Durnan

Meantime, the community is invited to watch the Nipissing women’s hockey team host Ryerson at Memorial Gardens tomorrow night (Sat).

The City of North Bay is sponsoring fireworks in Thompson Park after the game.

 

Families with young children, caregivers and grandparents are all invited to the 14th annual Learning Together event tomorrow at St Joseph-Scollard Hall.

Over 45 community partners are providing family activities.

Highlights include Touch a Truck, Science North, Fairy Gardens, Mini Triathlon and Bob the Builder.

The event goes from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm tomorrow.

Seventy-six people are taking part in the 3rd Annual Let’s Remember Adam Charity Golf Tournament at the Mattawa Golf Course tomorrow.

The tournament sold out in less than 24 hours.

They’re raising funds to keep the campaign to make school buses safer and raise awareness about stopping for the school bus.

Officials hope to launch two redesigned billboards in the Mattawa/North Bay area before winter.

They also started the Adam Ranger bursary last school year for each high school in Mattawa.

 

A fundraiser involving axe throwing, games and raffles goes Sunday at Northern Axperts.

The 3rd annual Axe Cancer event is raising funds to send kids with cancer to Camp Quality, a free summer camp.
