By next April there will be plenty of integration within mental health services locally.

Executive Director of the Nipissing Mental Health Housing & Support Services Mary Davis says the first step will take effect in January when staff and administration staff at the CMHA Nipissing Branch will become part of the organization.

Then in April the integration of the organization will include People for Equal Partnership in Mental Health and the North Bay Recovery Home.

She says there are two main benefits including a streamlining of services locally.

“We”ll be able to fill gaps where they might exist. So instead of having four system navigators you might have two and the other two positions could do something different,” she says.

She says for clients it’s beneficial too as it will be easier to navigate the system for the service they need help with.

“They have the one number they can access instead of having to figure what door they need to go through. All they have to do is call that number and find the service they’re looking for, ” Davis says.
