Chair of Engineering and Works Tanya Vrebosch was this mornings guest on Council Capsule with Matthew Sookram.

They discussed a report on Winter Maintenance Operations and ways of finding efficiency in the winter operations budget. Vrebosch was asked about an idea discussed where snow plows would not go out on city streets on the weekends.

Vrebosch says this was the direction of council to operate this way throughout 2015.

Meantime, there was also a report from the Fire Chief last night which also looked at service levels. Vrebosch says the goal is to find further efficiency in the Fire Department.

Vrebosch says the position is a useful one for such an important job. She says in an emergency situation every should be on the same page and that’s what the training officer provides.

Meantime, they also talked about the Health Unit moving to the downtown core with their new building on Oak and Cassells. Vrebosch says this is a good decision for the Health Unit.
