A 33 year old North Bay man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say on Wednesday evening around 11 pm they were called to a residential parking lot on McNamara Street as several males were involved in a physical altercation.

Police say their investigation identified that one of the males had entered a residence and after his arrest police uncovered 11.6 grams of suspected purple fentanyl valued at $7,550.

Police say the man did have an outstanding warrant previously.

Meantime, the Community Drug Strategy North Bay & Area Committee advises people battling addictions who use street-level drugs should take safety precautions when using small doses, never use alone, always have a friend present and have a Naloxone supply readily available in case of overdose.

The Chair of the CDSNBA Committee says even small amounts of fentanyl can be deadly and if you suspect an overdose, immediately call 911 and if available administer Naloxone.
