The 2019 Chamber of Commerce board of directors election is underway and there’s plenty of interest.

“We have had great interest from the members and we are pleased to see the slate of candidates from different sectors of the business community coming forward to support and participate on the board of the Chamber,” says Chamber President and CEO Peter Chirico in the weekly Chamber e-newsletter.

Ten people are vying for the six open director spots.

There’s also three young professionals seeking that post.

Voting members, who received their ballots in the mail, have until Wednesday, December 11th to vote.

This year’s seven winners will join the six current directors, who were voted in to two-year terms last year.

They include Tessa Clermont of the Military Family Resource Centre, Charles Elliott of Edward Jones, Deb Hudson of Burrows Country Store, Tracie Marsh of Premier Mining, Rebecca McGlynn of Ontario Northland and Melanie Rivard of Caisse Alliance.

The Executive of the Chamber will be determined after the vote, and at the next board meeting of the current and new directors.
