A North Bay hockey player will be playing in the NCAA next season.

Cole Craft has received a commitment from Lake Superior State University.

The school is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

Craft currently plays for the Rockland Nationals of the CCHL junior A league and has 50 points in 43 games this season.

He was part of a silver medal winning team at the World Junior A Challenge in December and also took part in the Top Prospects Game.

North Bay & District Hopper Buick/GMC Minor Bantam Trappers picked up three out of four points in a weekend series against Nickel City.

The Trappers won the opener 3-0 thanks to solid netminding from Justin Robinson.(pictured)

The 2nd game ended in a 2-2 tie.

The Major Peewee Trappers went 1-1-1 versus the Sault on the weekend.

They won a game 2-0, tied another 2-2 and lost the other game 2-0.

Jackson Curran had the shutout in the North Bay win.

In the NOJHL, the Powassan Voodoos are in Timmins Thursday and are looking to regain top spot in the league standings. The Voodoos have 73 points on the season, one point back of the Rock.

The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team has two games this weekend. They visit Toronto Friday and Ryerson on Saturday. Both Lakers basketball teams are on the road playing Ontario Tech Friday and Queens on Saturday. The Nipissing volleyball teams visit Ryerson Friday then York on Saturday.

In the OCAA, both Canadore volleyball teams visit Seneca on Saturday then George Brown on Sunday. In men’s basketball, the Panthers visit St Clair on Saturday and Lambton on Sunday.
