The OPP say a 28 year old Tara, Ontario man has died in a snowmobile collision.

The collision occurred between a machine and a backhoe around 4 pm on Saturday in Patterson Township.

Meantime, there have been three other collisions between last Tuesday and yesterday.

They have taken place in Papineau-Cameron Township and in Nipissing Township.

In that last one, the driver stayed injured on the ice for approximately two hours before being located by a passerby.

The driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries.

In one near the Mattawa Golf and Ski Resort, a driver was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The 39 year old motorist from Omemee, Ontario, was issued a three-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

North Bay OPP say they’ve investigated 8 snowmobile collisions this season including two fatal collisions, and four collisions with injuries.

OPP advise that traveling on unsafe ice, speeding, driving too fast for the conditions and alcohol/drug consumption continue to be leading contributing factors in OPP-investigated snowmobile collisions and fatalities.
