The North Bay Battalion saw their three game winning streak snapped with a 6-3 loss to Saginaw yesterday at Memorial Gardens.

Head Coach Ryan Oulahen says the team remained competitive despite being down early.

“We got down to 6-0 and we didn’t quit.  We kept with it, we played physical, for the most part our compete and effort was pretty good and I’m happy with that,” he says.

Chad Denault, Alex Christopoulos (pictured) and Shane Bulitka were the goal scorers for North Bay.

The Troops are back in action Wednesday night at home to Sudbury.

The Powassan Voodoos clinched first overall in the NOJHL standings on the weekend.

They won two out of three games on a northern road trip.

The Voodoos defeated Timmins 3-2 in overtime on Friday, won 3-1 in Cochrane on Saturday and lost 5-2 in Hearst yesterday.

 

The Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team will play York in the second round of the playoffs.

This after Nipissing swept Queens in round one, while the Lions dispatched Waterloo in two straight games too.

Details on when the series will start have yet to be confirmed.

In OUA men’s volleyball, Nipissing defeated Trent 3-0 in their last game of the regular season.

The Lakers will play McMaster in round one of the playoffs.

The Nipissing women finished their season with a 3-2 win over Trent.

 

In OCAA men’s volleyball, Canadore’s season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Fanshawe in their sudden death playoff game Saturday.

The Canadore women are hosting the OCAA championship later this week.

In men’s basketball, Canadore finished 0-20 on the season with a loss to Fanshawe on Saturday.
