North Bay City Council is getting behind a co-ordinated effort from The Blue Sky Economic Growth Corporation to obtain funding to improve internet service in the region.

Councillor Bill Vrebosch says some outlying parts of North Bay could benefit but outlying areas as well.

“And that includes Powassan, Mattawa, Bonfield and Corbeil. A cumulative application has been put in to the CRTC for rural expansion of internet,” he says.

He says connectivity is key these days and people need to have better internet service if the city is going attract newcomers and businesses.

“I just sold my house and everyone person asked me about connectivity. People want to move here but they need to work here too and having improved internet is key,” Vrebosch says.
