Three people have been charged by the West Nipissing detachment of the OPP following an assault with a weapon incident earlier today near Jocko Point Road.

Police say they conducted a high risk traffic stop on Highway 17.

Two of the people, a 36 year old woman and a 28 year old man, both from North Bay were charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of break in instruments.

A 37 year North Bay male was also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of break-in instruments.

Police say there were no injuries and they seized several weapons and break-in tools.

Mattawa OPP say they were called to a family dispute on Thursday in which someone had barricaded themself in a residence with a firearm and a young person.

The residence was located on Highway 630 in Calvin Township.

Police say the subject eventually exited the residence and there were no injuries.

Police say no additional action was taken.

A 52 year old West Nipissing man has been charged with spousal assault, spousal assault causing bodily harm, mischief and two counts of uttering threats.

Police say the charges were laid after they received a report of a domestic disturbance on Monday afternoon at a Highway 64 residence.
