City fire officials report significant fire and smoke damage after a fire in the basement of a home on the 900 block of Morin Street on Saturday morning.

The call came in just before 10 am.

There was no one living in the home at the time, with renovations underway.

“Firefighters were on scene in under four minutes and were able to successfully extinguish the fire without incident,” says Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders in a release. “The home did incur significant fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation but may be related to the renovation work that was being completed.”
