A provincial funding boost to provide housing and support services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in North Bay.
$1.2-million will see 16 units created at the former privately-owned OPP station on Chippewa West
“The new Gateway House will help to give those who are at the greatest risk a place to call home, with the supports they need,” said Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing. “This investment is in addition to the almost $600,000 the province has recently provided to The Gathering Place, Food Bank, LIPI, Indigenous Friendship Centre, Phara, Crisis Centre, and a dozen other local groups.”
“We’d like to thank all those in our community who continue to work tirelessly in support of those who need our help the most,” added Fedeli.
“The DNSSAB is thrilled with this provincial announcement for the construction of 16 housing units with supports,” said Mark King, Chair of the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board. “These provincial and DNSSAB partnerships and investments continue to build healthier communities for all. The DNSSAB thanks the Province for its continuous commitment to the residents of Nipissing District.”
There’s no specifics on when the units will be available.

(bridge rehabilitation)

Last week the province announced Connecting Links funding for bridge rehabilitation in Mattawa.

Now there’s word a couple more area projects are receiving funding.

Over 850-thousand dollars is going towards the rehabilitation of the Armstrong Bridge in Burk’s Falls.

In West Nipissing, there’s 113-thousand dollars for the detailed design of the Front Street/Champlain Bridge rehabilitation.

24 projects across Ontario are getting funding.

The application process for 2021/22 funding opens later this year.
