A committee of North Bay City Council has approved a couple of development proposals.

One concerns a plan for 30 lots to be developed so a subdivision can be extended at Turner Drive just off Booth Road.

Staff say 41 lots have been developed and a plan was submitted by the developer for the remaining 30 lots but the request was missed by staff so the developer is re-applying.

Rick Miller of Miller Urso Surveying Inc. says the services are already in.

“The intention of the developer is to register this plan of subdivision right away. They’re out of lots in this previous phase and they intend to start building houses this summer,” he says.

The other proposal given committee approval concerns a rezoning for property on Gormanville Road.

It’s currently zoned industrial and the proponent wants to give it a commercial designation as well.

Paul Goodridge is with Goodridge Goulet Planning and Surveying.

He says the new zoning would change the list of permitted uses and give the developer some options as the company wants to lease the property to a business or businesses.

“The interior of the building has not been finished. It is set up for four units but could be leased out to one tenant also,” Goodridge says.
