A 17 year old from North Bay has been charged with careless driving causing death and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death.

Police say the charges relate to a September, 2019 collision between a motor vehicle and a cyclist on Highway 63 near North Bay.

24 year old Shelby Dickey, a Nipissing University student and member of the university’s Nordic Skiing team died in that collision.

Make it 18 motorists within the North Bay OPP detachment area that been charged this year with impaired driving.

The latest is a 53 year old Mattawa woman who was charged Monday afternoon.

Police say they received a complaint about a vehicle going all over the road on Highway 17 in East Ferris Township.

North Bay OPP say the complainant advised that the subject vehicle struck guardrails and kept driving and while police were on route, the vehicle left the highway, went into the ditch and caused a single vehicle collision.

The driver sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries.
