Six North Bay Battalion players are heading to NHL camps this week.

Defenceman Cam Dineen (pictured) is off to Arizona’s camp, Mark Shoemaker to San Jose, Brett McKenzie to Vancouver, Riley Bruce to Calgary, Brent Moran to Chicago and Justin Brazeau to Detroit.

The Troops, meantime, continue to practice ahead of the regular season opener at Memorial Gardens next Friday, September 23rd against Niagara.

 

A few Nipissing University varsity teams have exhibition games this weekend.

The men’s and women’s volleyball teams are home to Humber tonight (Friday) and tomorrow.

In women’s hockey, Nipissing is on the road playing Ottawa tonight, then Carleton tomorrow.

In men’s pre-season hockey last night, the Lakers were in Sudbury and won 3-2 over Laurentian.

Meantime, the OUA regular season in soccer continues with both Nipissing teams home to UOIT tomorrow then Trent on Sunday.

The men’s lacrosse team entertains Queens for a couple games this weekend.

 

The North Bay Midget AAA Trappers only have one game this weekend.

They entertain Timmins again at Memorial Gardens tomorrow at 4pm.

The Trappers won twice over the Majors last weekend to open the season.

 

And NDA senior football kick-offs tonight with 2 games, both at 7 pm.

St Joseph-Scollard Hall entertains Algonquin at Cundari Field while Widdifield plays Franco Cite at the Omischl Complex.
