We’re learning more about the impact of COVID-19 on local businesses and employees.

The Labour Market Group says in North Bay, over 81 % of respondents to their monthly survey report they’ve lost over half of their revenue due to COVID-19 and 18 % of respondents are available to work from home but close to 60 % received a forced layoff.

Also, businesses have had to adjust and 13 % have reduced hours, 29 % have modified interaction with the public and 33 % have made no modifications.

Meantime, there were 264 job postings in May. That’s 95 more than April.

23 % of the jobs are in retail trade and the top employers posting positions are Pet Smart, West Nipissing General Hospital, District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board and Canadore College.
