The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry confirms there were four new forest fires Thursday in the Northeast region including one in the North Bay District.

That brings to 28 the number of forest fires in the district this season.

Currently, the ministry says there are 22 active fires in the Northeast and six are not under control.

The hazard is rated high to extreme in most parts of the Northeast.
