The province’s re-opening plan takes effect on Friday and the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is adapting its policies.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jim Chirico says they will be mandating face coverings in their coverage area  in certain enclosed public spaces and North Bay Transit as of July 24.

He says the health and safety recommendations have been effective to date but with more businesses opening on Friday as well as more social gatherings expected it’s time to adjust.

He adds the use of face coverings is not expected to replace things like physical distancing, hand washing and isolating yourself when you have symptoms or have come in close contact with someone with COVID-19 but in addition to these things.

Details on the mandate will be unveiled on Friday.
