Four months after COVID-19 shut everything down the travel industry remains at a standstill.

So says Chris Mayne of Mayne Travel.

He says people are hesistent to go anywhere until there’s a vaccine.

“People are still generally concerned about the presence of COVID-19. Longer term or shorter term we need to see a solution to that before people feel comfortable about travelling again,” he says.

He says people are starting to think about trips late in the year or next year but they need good news on the vaccine.

Mayne says it’s not as though people don’t want to travel but safety is key.

“People want to travel. They want winter vacations, see Europe, go to Asia or go to Hawaii. But until it’s really seen as comfortable and safe to travel more people are going to feel comfortable about staying close to home until conditions improve,” he says.

Mayne says trips aren’t happening across the country as many provinces have two week quarantines in place for visitors.
