With stage three of the provincial COVID-19 reopening underway, the Nipissing District Soccer Club held it’s first ‘return to play’ event on the weekend.

On Facebook, Club President Mark Hopper discussed the coach and player development sessions, which were held at Rollie Fischer Field.

“We’re just trying to put a product forward for people to migrate to and nothing but positive comments,” he says. “It was good to see some of the young people in our community, it’s good to see that they’re exercising.”

Hopper also says the club is expanding.

“We’ve brought in the youth competitive division, the women’s division, we’re really trying to put soccer back in North Bay the way it was before and all the work everyone has done before,” he says.

Officials say a new board is looking to build soccer from the grassroots to varsity and beyond in the city.
