Unemployment in the North Bay area continues to be below the national jobless figure.

Stats Canada reports local unemployment was 9.5 percent last month.

That includes The City of North Bay, Callander, East Ferris and Bonfield.

While it is 3.6 percent higher than July 2019,when unemployment was 5.9 percent, it’s below the national figure.

National unemployment was 10.9 percent in July, down from 12.3 percent the month before.

Statistics Canada says the country’s labour market gained 419,000 jobs last month as more parts of the economy were allowed to reopen.
