North Bay OPP report a 38 year old Pembroke resident is facing ten charges including impaired, flight from police and assaulting a police officer.

Around 11:30 am Friday police received a number of traffic complaints involving a vehicle on Hwy 17 in Calvin Township.

OPP attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it failed to stop.

After a spike belt was deployed near Pine Lake Road in Bonfield the vehicle stopped and police say the driver immediately attacked the officers with a weapon.

Police say after a struggle the driver was taken into custody.

 

A 22 year old North Bay resident is facing impaired charges after a single vehicle collision around midnight on Saturday on Memorial Park Drive in Powassan.

Police say officers found a vehicle had left the roadway, hit a hydro pole and landed upside down in a swamp.

Both driver and passenger were able to get out of the vehicle and being seen by paramedics.

The passenger was brought to hospital with minor injuries.

This was the 36th impaired driving charge filed by North Bay OPP this year.

 

North Bay OPP charged four motorists with stunt driving on Saturday.

Police tweeted that all of them were were traveling over 59km/h over the speed limit.

The vehicles were impounded and licenses suspended for seven days.
