The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the OPP reporting a drowning.

Police, fire and ambulance were called to a report of an overturned canoe and a person in the water on Wednesday afternoon on Grass Lake in the Kearney area.

The area was searched and a person was recovered and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

There have been 45 motorists charged with impaired driving by the Nipissing West OPP this year.

The latest two were last Saturday following a single vehicle roll-over collision on Highway 607 in French River and at a parking lot in Sturgeon Falls yesterday.

A 35 year old male from Hamilton was also charged in the first incident with dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruct peace officer and driving while under suspension.

The 2nd happened when officers found two people asleep in a vehicle.

Police say they received a report of two people smoking drugs in a vehicle and a 23 year old from Lavigne was charged.
