Almaguin Highlands OPP have identified a 47 year old Brantford man as the drowning victim in a Wednesday afternoon incident.

Police say they responded to a report of an overturned canoe on Grass Lake near Kearney and witnesses reported that they observed an overturned canoe and a person in the water.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple charges have been laid against a 33 year old North Bay man following a fail to remain collision on Highway 17 near Sturgeon Falls last Saturday.
Police say a westbound car swerved across the eastbound lane, struck a guardrail and ditch and that caused significant damage to both and then the vehicle continued westbound on the highway.
Later, the vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested.
Police say they uncovered a quantity of drugs suspected to be Fentanyl and Cocaine along with a replica handgun and over $750 in Canadian currency.
The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $13,250.
The charges include operating a vehicle while impaired, possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and possessing an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Additionally, police say before they located the vehicle, the occupants switched drivers and a 40 year old Sturgeon Falls resident has been charged with careless driving.
