The results are in from Lemonade Day in North Bay last month.

Program and Event Coordinator with The Business Centre, Kennedy Horton says Lemonade Day gave local youth the chance to get a sense and a taste for entrepreneurship. and divvy up the proceeds.

“They save some for themselves for education, they spent some on a new bike, scooter or whatever they wanted and then they shared some with local community members like the Humane Society, The local food bank and The Gathering Place,” she says.

‘La Maison CITRON’ owners Mollie and Brynn Wanner, and Ruby Carello won for ‘best stand’.

Local winner for ‘best tasting’ lemonade was Nigel Pomerleau with his ‘4-11 Lemonade Stand’.

He also won a bike in a national contest has a chance at a cash prize in the National Youth Entrepreneur of the Year contest.

Horton says this was the inaugural event locally.

“North Bay was actually the first license holder within Ontario, so it was actually a pretty big deal, it’s a national program that is based out of Houston, Texas,” she says. “The Business Centre and the Young Professional Committee at the Chamber of Commerce came together and said ‘we’d love to offer this to students in North Bay.”

She says seven stands were set up around the city on August 20th. “Which I think is a great success, considering COVID and all. We had great numbers and great community participation,” Horton adds.

She says they hope to be able to offer the program again next year.
