COVID-19 is changing things up for the Lions Children’s Christmas Telethon this year.

Chair Gary Verge tells BayToday a virtual presentation is taking place on December 5th.

“This year it will be a shortened format, it’ll be four hours from 4pm to 8pm. It’ll be made up of a tape of the best of previous telethons,” he says.

He says the telethon raises money to supply much-needed gifts, turkeys and hams to families in need in the area.

“We normally help out about 400-plus families and this year we’re estimating 600-plus,” Verge tells BayToday.

The pledge lines are live now.

On December 5th, you can listen to the telethon on Country 600 CKAT, watch it on Cogeco YourTV Channel 12 or 700, or stream it online at canadoretv.com and lionschildrenstelethon.com
