For the 2nd straight day, there is a new COVID-19 case to report in the District of Nipissing.

Both cases are self isolating and are aged 40-59.

The new case was acquired the virus through community transmission.

This brings the total case count since the pandemic to 49. 46 have been resolved and there’s been one death.

Meantime, the Health Unit says your current face coverings are still acceptable and required.

This after Canada’s top doctor unveiled new recommendations for non-medical masks this week saying they should be made of at least three layers.

The Health Unit tweeted that an added filter-style fabric may add extra protection, but three-layer face coverings are not mandatory in our district at this time.
