An informal youth task force is taking shape with the city.

It’s taking over from the work of the previous ‘Next Generation Task Force.’
Councillor Marcus Tignanelli told Council last week there’s a reason they’re going with an informal group.
“We’re not looking for any staff resources, we’re not looking to take minutes, we’re not looking for a formal board. This allows maximum flexibility, maximum participation, really it’s just a way to engage the youth, work hands-on with them and ‘how can we get projects done’,” he says. “A prime example of this would be there’s been a call for skate parks in town and a lot of the youth don’t know exactly how to navigate through municipal politics, how to formulate this, how to form a budget request.”
Tignanelli it’s about helping get some of these ideas to council in an efficient manner.
He says he’s looking forward to hosting the group each month.
