An update this week on the North Bay Community Centre project.

Marc Downing of MJM Architects talked to city council on the financials of the project.

“We found that we are on budget. We are predicting the cost to be between $33.5 and $33.7 million,” he says.

He says the contingency percentage on top of that is down from the 10 % contingency figure revealed earlier.

“All of the design factors that we had been developing for the past months have been dialed in. We’re recommending that you move ahead with this tender with a 5 % contingency,” Downing says.

He says they are ready to begin the tender process and they’re currently finalizing the contract.

The project will be addressed at next week’s budget deliberations.
