The North Bay Baseball Association has benefited from the #FREEPAGZ movement.

Skaters Edge owner Paul McLean started selling the t-shirts last week after the now imfamous beer tossing incident at Rogers Centre.

Ken Pagan, who was a sports editor locally for eight years and involved in the local sports community, has been charged with mischief.

McLean says originally half was going to go to Pagan’s defence with the other half going to minor baseball.

He says there was some negativity around that, so now all $1,500 is going to minor baseball.

“I believe people are innocent until proven guilty, I support Ken for everything he did here and I’m really excited and happy to be able to, out of what was a negative story, spin something positive and give a cheque to North Bay Minor Baseball”, McLean said Tuesday outside his Fisher Street store.

Association President Don Maille says the funds will be well-used.

“We still have some batting helmets that are 3 or 4 years old, not very sanitary, and we can spruce up our bats a little bit. $1,500 should go a long ways to replenishing our stock,” Maille said.

McLean says sales of the shirts have continued and he’ll be donating future money too.

He says he’s got the bug for raising money for kid’s sports now.

“Maybe a little less controversial next time, but I think that there’s more we can do to help kids be active in sports and get a chance to play”, McLean said.
