Battalion blueliner excited to be drafted by the Calgary Flames

Two years in North Bay and the Battalion now have three players drafted into the NHL.

Last year, Mike Amadio and Kyle Wood became the first North Bay Battalion players to hear their names called at the NHL draft, and this year defenceman Riley Bruce heard his.

The six-foot-six rearguard was taken in the seventh round on Saturday by the Calgary Flames.

Meantime, Bruce says he will be busy for the rest of the summer.

Bruce says he hadn’t talked to the Calgary Flames before the draft so it was a surprise to get that phone call.
