A 23 year old Haileybury man has been charged after an extortion investigation.

Police say the charges include extortion, theft under 5 Thousand Dollars and breach.

Police say a woman lost her wallet at the movies.

A man found it went on line and contacted the woman.

After she confirmed she was the owner of the wallet, she was asked for sexual favours in return for the wallet.

The woman agreed to a meeting location and time and then contacted police.

The man was arrested at the meeting location.

Meantime, a 34 year old Corbeil man is facing several charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, uttering threats, assault with intent to resist arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say last Friday, a male drove to his former partner’s residence in North Bay.

A verbal dispute ensued and the situation turned violent when a woman was threatened.

Police were called by a citizen who observed erratic driving and while being arrested the male refused to comply.

Later, police searched his vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana.

And North Bay Police have charged a 47 year old city male with several offenses including uttering threats, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to stop for police.

Police say they responded to a 911 call on Saturday regarding a family dispute.

Police say someone left in an impaired state before police got there.

Previously, a family member had been threatened after a heated argument.

The driver of the vehicle failed to stop for police and was arrested following a pursuit.
