32 Battalion prospects, including a CJHL All Star, in the city this weekend

The North Bay Battalion are bringing 32 prospects to the city this weekend.

Assistant General Manager Matt Rabideau says the Orientation Camp is a chance for those new draft picks to try and crack the roster.

Rabideau says it’s a great opportunity for the parents to meet people in the organization and get acquainted with where their son will be spending the year playing hockey.

The on-ice sessions are free to the public to attend.

They take place at Memorial Gardens from 3-5pm tomorrow and 9am-11am on Sunday.

Meantime, Powassan Voodoos forward and Battalion prospect Steven Harland has been named to the first-ever CJHL All-Star Team.

Harland was both the NOJHL’s most valuable player and rookie of the year.

He played a part in 44 percent of the Voodoos’ 213 regular season goals.

Harland scored 42 goals and 53 assists last season.

And in NDA senior boys soccer, Algonquin scored a 2-0 win over West Ferris in their quarterfinal matchup.

Nick Besner and Brady Hardwick scored for the Barons while Malik Douglass had the clean sheet.

Elsewhere, Chippewa won their quarterfinal 3-0 over Franco Cite.

And in varsity girls soccer, Widdifield shutout Franco 1-0.

The Wildcats Alyssa Randall scored the lone goal of the game.
