Blue Box

Any company who produces blue box waste currently contributes to 50% of the Blue Box program.

North Bay City Council is hoping to the province will change that to 100%.

They have sent a letter to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change to look into this issue.

This was spearheaded by Councillor Mac Bain. He adds the city would still run the program and be responsible for picking up the blue boxes, but they need the producers to be responsible for their products.

Bain says over time he hopes this makes the producers become more responsible with their packaging to reduce the amount of waste.
